These buoys are a critical component of the NLB\u2019s statutory duty to provide marine aids to navigation for the safety of all mariners in Scottish and Isle of Man waters.\nOban Bay is a busy and strategically important area for commercial shipping, fishing vessels, ferries, and recreational craft. Maintaining accurate and reliable buoyage in this area is essential to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vessels, reduce the risk of groundings or collisions, and protect sensitive marine environments.\nHaving a stock of 1500mm Port Buoys on hand allows NLB to respond quickly to unplanned events such as buoy damage, loss, or the need to establish temporary marks for marine works or changing conditions.
