Description
OTPA (On Train Passenger Announcement) modification on Class 465/466 - The requirement for OTPA modification arose from industry-wide concerns about driver distraction caused by GSM-R PA announcements overriding in-cab communications. Network Rail's OTPA programme identified the need to modify the PISC system on Class 465/466 units to correctly prioritise communication channels and improve passenger information delivery. This requirement was first scoped in early 2023 as part of national work led by Network Rail to address safety and operational risks.
