    "description": "Imperial War Museums (IWM) is seeking a qualified contractor to deliver the next phase of its low-carbon heating strategy at IWM Duxford. This project involves the installation of a ground source heat pump (GSHP) system in Hangar 4, replacing the existing oil-fired boiler serving office areas on both the north and south sides of the hangar. \nPhases 1 and 2 of IWM\u2019s GSHP implementation have successfully covered Hangars 2, 3, 5, and Buildings 200 and 74. Heat energy is sourced from underground water via bored holes on-site, transferred through plate heat exchangers in Building 68, and distributed via an ambient loop. Phase 3 (the current tender) will connect to the existing ambient loop infrastructure already in place from previous phases. \nThe scope includes detailed design development (based on a novated preliminary design), procurement, installation, and commissioning of all associated plant and equipment. A back-up electric boiler capable of meeting 100% of the heat load will also be integrated.
