Introduction\r\nPurpose of the Specification\r\nThis specification sets out the requirements for the delivery and operation of an on-site Alternative Provision (AP) at The East Manchester Academy, to be managed by an external provider. The aim is to support pupils at risk of exclusion or those who require a more tailored educational environment to re-engage with learning and improve outcomes.\r\nBackground\r\nThe East Manchester Academy (TEMA) is a mainstream secondary school with approximately 1050 pupils, located in Beswick, Manchester. We are committed to inclusion and early intervention to support all learners. The school has identified a need for a dedicated on-site AP to cater for up to 20 pupils who struggle to access mainstream education.\r\n2. Scope of Requirements\r\nService Description\r\nWe require an experienced, suitably qualified provider to design, deliver, and manage an on-site alternative provision. This will involve:\r\nProviding structured education, pastoral care, and behaviour support for up to 20 pupils aged 11-16.\r\nOperating during standard school hours and term times.\r\nCollaborating with school staff and external agencies as appropriate.\r\nCore Requirements\r\nThe provider must:\r\nDeliver a curriculum aligned with the national curriculum (including English, Maths, and PSHE). This will be delivered by existing TEMA staff as part of their normal timetable.\r\nSupport behaviour improvement, attendance, and pupil well-being.\r\nProvide staff trained in trauma-informed approaches and behaviour management.\r\nOffer tailored interventions and reintegration support where appropriate.\r\nMaintain safeguarding, health \u0026 safety, and data protection in line with school policies.\r\nFacilities\r\nThe provision will be located in the existing footprint of the school, provisionally using the SIBCAS units that currently house RESET. The provider is expected to fully/staff and furnish the space/provide learning resources and equipment.",
