    "description": "Background Information for the proposed Work Order\r\n\r\nThe site is the A194(M) southbound carriageway between the A1(M)/A194(M) Jc 65 Birtley, and the \r\nA194(M)/A184T Whitemare Pool roundabout. \r\n\r\nThe existing pavement surfacing consists of a mixture of a Thin Surface Course System (TSCS) between 7-10 \r\nyears old, and an aged Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA). The A194(M) mainline dual carriageway motorway is reaching \r\nthe end of its serviceable life. Visible defects can be found whilst driving through the A194(M). \r\n\r\nDefects such as: longitudinal cracks, exposed longitudinal joint, edge cracks, transverse cracks, fretting, and some early developed \r\npotholes. Whitemare Pool circulatory carriageway is also included as part of the scheme due to road pavement \r\ndegradation.\r\n\r\nThe proposed work consists of resurfacing the A194(M) Southbound (SB) mainline carriageway, slip roads, \r\ndesignated lanes, and hard shoulder, as well as the A194 WMP Circulatory road pavement.\r\n\r\nAssociated assets influenced by the works are to be re-established as per the existing layout. This includes road \r\nmarkings and studs, traffic and weather loops/sensors and bridge joints. There is also one traffic sign face to be renewed.",
