    "description": "The Council is procuring a contract to undertake section of the \r\npedestrian Guard Rail replacement over the pumping station \r\nwall at West Tower Street Bridge. \r\nWest Tower Street Bridge carries the A595 County Road \r\n(Castle Way) across West Tower Street in Carlisle.  \r\nA general breakdown of the protective paint system on the \r\nexisting pedestrian Guard Rail has led to various instances of \r\nsevere corrosion of the steelwork. As a result, replacing the \r\nsection of the pedestrian Guard Rail under the bridge is \r\nnecessary. \r\nThe work includes the design and replacement of, \r\napproximately, 80m of pedestrian guardrail above the \r\nPumping Station under the West Tower Street Bridge. \r\nIn 2023, the 4 number posts above the Pumping Station were \r\ntemporarily repaired. \r\nThe project is to be let as a Build contract with the contractor \r\ndesigned elements set out in appendix 1/10 of the \r\nspecification \r\n\r\n",
