In order to protect the unique character of Gwynedd's slate communities and surrounding landscpaes, this commission funds a company or organisation to provide accredited courses, and non-accredited informal taster courses in the traditional skills areas below:⢠Masonry⢠Lime plastering/rendering⢠Crawiau / pileri slate fencing⢠Slate pitching⢠Stone/slate walling⢠Gates and posts⢠Slate carving / slate art⢠Train-the-trainer coursesNB: provision can be offered in all of the above areas or focus on at least 3 areas in greater depth. The train-the-trainer courses will need to be provided in addition to the minimum of 3 areas as the development of future trainers is an important part of the commission's legacy.
