Description

As part of the permanent, working display of weaving machinery at Esgair Moel woollen mill in the National Museum of History, St Fagans, there are two historic carding machines. These machines form an integral part in the process of preparing raw wool before spinning it into yarn, which is then used for weaving as part of the end-to-end process of “fleece to finished product” demonstrated to the public. The carding machines incorporate several rollers which are covered in a cloth into which are set fine metal pins that tease apart the wool, combing it, so that it can be spun into yarn. Both machines require reclothing, as the existing metal pins used to tease apart the wool have worn down and no longer function as required.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=152185.
